That was the great insight of the Stoics - that freedom means learning to relinquish your attachment to things turning out ok.... Only true if you deny death's an intrinsic part of existence. The fact of life's ending doesn't negate its worth, Nowadays, the odds that everything will generally turn out "ok" by historical standards are extremely high.
